Agnes DiGregorio Sopko
Agnes was born in Pietransieri, Italy, on November 25, 1925 one of the daughters of Annagidia Panzera DiGregorio and Vincenzo DiGregorio. Agnes was a member of St. Sebastian Church in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, and previously a member of Holy Spirit Church in Fayette City where she was a member of the "Handmaids".
Agnes was a registered nurse, she graduated under the Cadet Nurse program from Brownsville General Hospital with affiliations at both Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and Allentown State Hospital in Allentown, PA.
Agnes worked at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital and retired from the Mon Valley Hospital after many years of service to both hospitals.
After retirement, Agnes did volunteer work with the American Red Cross Blood Drive in the Mon Valley. She worked as a volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul Store in Monessen, PA, for a short period of time when the store first opened and later retired to take care of her husband.
Agnes was a member of the Mon Valley Nurses Association for many years.
Gardening, knitting, and crocheting were a few of Agnes’ most enjoyed hobbies. Agnes was very proud of her family; she especially enjoyed family gatherings and telling her grandchildren about growing up in Italy and her trip coming to America. She liked when she heard of the family traditions that were being carried on. One of her most admirable traits was her ability to always see the good in people.
